Update: Temporary detour will begin on June 15, 2026.

🚧 Temporary Closure Notice – City of Safford Multi-Use Trail 🚧
As construction begins on the new Mayor Jason Kouts Park, a section of the City of Safford Multi-Use Trail will be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of trail users and construction crews.
To help you continue enjoying the trail, temporary detour signage will be posted directing users along an alternate route that will reconnect to the loop around the cemetery.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to bring this exciting new community park to Safford. Please follow all posted signs and use caution when traveling through the area.

The City of Safford thrives because of the exceptional individuals who contribute their talents and dedication every day. Through our Employee Spotlight series, we highlight team members who exemplify commitment and help make our City successful.

In this edition, we’re proud to spotlight Bryson Martin, Data Analyst in our Support Division Department. Bryson supports City Management by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data from various departments. Using Cityworks and other systems, he helps manage services and provides information that supports informed decision-making across the City. He recently earned his Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, a major accomplishment that highlights his dedication and
hard work.

What initially attracted you to the City of Safford, and what motivates you to continue working here
• I was born and raised in the Gila Valley, and I like that I can give back to the community by working here.
What is the best part of your job
• The best part of my job is that I get to work with data and help others to make informed decisions for the city's utilities.
What's the most interesting thing you're working on right now
• I am currently helping the warehouse change software from Caselle to Cityworks, which is the workorder software the work crews use.
How do you approach challenges in your role, and what strategies do you use to overcome them
• I approach challenges as an opportunity to grow. I handle these challenges by ensuring that I have as much context as I can. Then find a simple solution.

Do You Know? City of Safford has Animal Regulations 🐾

Many residents have questions about what animals are permitted within city limits. According to city code, the following animals are allowed as customary household pets:

🐶🐱 Dogs, Cats & Small Mammals
• Up to 3 dogs, cats, or other small mammals are allowed (not including animals under 6 months of age).

🐔 Birds & Chickens
• Up to 12 birds are allowed, with a maximum of 6 chickens.
• Roosters are not permitted.
• Birds and chickens must be kept in a fully enclosed building or accessory structure and may not create odors or noise detectable from neighboring properties.

🐷 Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs
• Up to 2 Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs are allowed.
• Male pigs must be neutered, and female pigs must be spayed.

These regulations help ensure that residents can enjoy their pets while maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for the entire community. If you have questions about animal regulations or other city code requirements, please contact us.
