As we approach the primary election on Tuesday, I want to thank all of you who have been supportive of my efforts to speak out to children against substance abuse and to address the problem of illegal drug use in our community. The Graham County Superior Court Judge must always be actively involved in the community - not just at election time. I have been a Boy Scout volunteer for 15 years and I have coached High School Football for 8 years. I have hosted hundreds of children in my courtroom to show them first-hand the negative effects of substance abuse. As you make your choice for Graham County Superior Court Judge, I would imagine that the citizens of Graham County want the most qualified person for the job. Last summer, Governor Ducey considered four applicants (including my opponent). Following a thorough investigation of our qualifications, I was selected. I have served continuously as the Superior Court Judge since last September. I am the only judge running for Superior Court Judge who has ever sent someone to prison. I am the only judge who has won a grant for a Drug Court here in Graham County. I am the only judge running for Superior Court who has decided a child custody case. I am the only judge running for Superior Court Judge who is ALREADY the Superior Court Judge. I am running to keep the job I already have. I can't see how there is any question as to which candidate is most qualified. I was there in the Superior Court serving as the judge all day today. I will be there all day tomorrow. And the next. I have served as the presiding Superior Court Judge for almost a year. I am the only candidate with experience as a Superior Court Judge. I have also served our community as a volunteer and local schools, in the Boy Scouts (for 15 years) and as a high school football coach for 8 years. This is a photograph from the dedication of the Graham County Superior Courthouse on September 6, 1916. The Courthouse is 100 years old this year. The problems we face as a community are very different from those of 100 years ago. Unfortunately, many who live here are plagued by substance abuse, including and especially illegal drug use. I am the Graham County Superior Court Judge. We must continue to have a Superior Court Judge who will work tirelessly as a community leader to bring together schools, civic groups and religious organizations to combat this problem.
