Fighting Chance We are a free cancer counseling center with a regional focus of the East End of Long Island

Professional counseling – typically provided by an oncology social worker – is a very beneficial supplement to the purely medical treatment that a cancer patient receives. This type of counseling is the core business of Fighting Chance, and is provided free-of-charge. The counseling helps relieve a cancer patient’s sense of hyper-anxiety and it increases their sense of "empowerment" so that they

feel they have a real chance – a fighting chance – of beating the disease. Urban-based hospitals often have psychosocial counselors on staff – although only available to that hospital’s patients. But Fighting Chance's office is "free standing and independent" -- so that we can and do assist patients from all six hospitals in and around Long Island’s East End.
