Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our nation’s past, honor those who fought for freedom and justice, and recognize the work that still lies ahead in creating healthier, more equitable communities for all.

At The Hearth Home, we remain committed to reducing health disparities, increasing access to HIV prevention and care, and supporting the dignity and well-being of every person we serve.

As we celebrate freedom, let us also continue to uplift one another, advocate for equity, and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Specializations: Matthew specializes in anxiety, depression, self-esteem and identity concerns, trauma, life transitions, and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. With a deep appreciation for cultural diversity, Matthew is committed to creating a space where all identities are affirmed and understood.

With 20 years of experience as a teacher and counselor—and degrees in teaching, educational counseling, and social work—Matthew brings a rich, holistic perspective to therapy since having lived and worked abroad. Matthew's therapeutic perspective is “Whether you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, my goal is to help you move toward a life that feels more aligned, empowered, and connected to your values”.

The Hearth Home is incredibly grateful to the City of Saginaw for recognizing National HIV Testing Day on June 27th and for acknowledging the importance of HIV prevention, testing, and access to care in our community.

This recognition helps shine a light on the importance of knowing your HIV status, reducing stigma, and ensuring that individuals have access to life-saving prevention tools such as PrEP, HIV testing, and linkage to care services.

As we continue working toward ending the HIV epidemic, partnerships between community organizations, healthcare providers, local leaders, and residents are more important than ever. We are honored to serve the Great Lakes Bay Region and appreciate the City of Saginaw’s support in helping raise awareness about HIV prevention and sexual health.
