Please enjoy this extended conversation with SDPC Secretary Alex Mixter as he discusses the future of Potter Street Station and historic preservation in Saginaw!

MLive picked up something remarkable that happened back in May: SDPC's own Alex Mixter was being interviewed about Potter Street Station for Riverfront Saginaw's "Sidewalk Talks" podcast when Pere Marquette 1225 rolled past on the tracks in the middle of their interview. According to the Steam Railroading Institute, it was the first time that engine had passed those tracks in 75 years, since the Station last boarded passengers.

We couldn't have scripted it better.

Read the full story in the link below, and if you want to see the moment for yourself, check out the "Sidewalk Talks" episode on YouTube - the train appears just after the 35-minute mark.

Please join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, July 21st at 6pm. We'll be gathering right across from the Station on Potter Street. All are welcome, and we encourage you to renew your membership!
