CAN Council CASA history was made Friday afternoon as we swore in our largest cohort ever, doubling our CASA coverage in Huron County in a single day. 🎉 The Honorable Judge Prill swore in 10 new CASA volunteers, and we welcomed back a previous CASA, bringing our total to 11 active advocates.
As we match each new CASA with a child in our community, our 22 CASA volunteers have the potential to represent an average of 48 children, well over half of the children currently in foster care across Huron County, and well above the state and national average.
"Thank you doesn't feel like enough for what these 11 individuals just committed to," said Caitlin Stone-Webber, Child Advocacy Services Director. "Each one will walk alongside a child through some of the hardest moments of their life, making sure their needs and their voice are never lost in the system. Friday afternoon, we didn't just swear in volunteers, we gave dozens of kids in our community someone who's truly in their corner."
Welcome to our newest CASAs, and thank you for your heart and commitment to the children. 💙
