As we continue celebrating National Principals Month, Weiss Elementary’s Jane Chase was surprised with a celebration from her entire student body! The special moment even caught the attention of WNEM TV5, which featured her!

The STCS Community Fall Festival brought families together at White Pine Middle School this week for a beautiful day filled with festive food, free kids’ activities, a community track walk, and a variety of health-related vendors with valuable information.
It was a great opportunity for STCS families to get outside, explore community resources, and enjoy time together!
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s festival a success!

Did you know that STCS Community Education’s Running Club gives K–5 students a fun, informal way to get moving while improving cardiovascular fitness, running speed and endurance?
With running Coach Bob there to supervise, encourage and motivate, students build their skills, gain confidence and discover the benefits of staying active.
This season’s club is winding down, but the Running Club returns every fall on Mondays and Wednesdays. Families can watch for information coming home from school when registration opens for next season!
Way to go, runners! Keep moving!

Saginaw Township Community Schools’ Hemmeter Elementary has been named a U.S. News and World Report Best Elementary School in the state. Hemmeter was ranked #8 for Michigan elementary schools!
Hemmeter Elementary is a kindergarten to 5th grade gifted and talented magnet school with an enrollment of approximately 321 students. Hemmeter offers students STEM opportunities, extra-curricular clubs such as violin, robotics, German, and chess and offers hands-on science experiments, outdoor exploration, and innovative learning experiences that spark curiosity and bring education to life.
The U.S. News ranking focuses on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading or language arts, while also accounting for student background and achievement, as well as student-teacher ratios.
“One of the things I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built together at Hemmeter,” said Hemmeter Elementary Principal Jim Bailey. “It’s a place where students feel loved, teachers feel supported, families feel connected, and everyone takes pride in being a Hornet. That culture doesn’t happen by accident. It’s something our entire school community works hard to create every single day, and I truly believe it’s a huge part of our success.”

STCS held its first Superintendent Advisory Committee meeting for the 2026-2027 school year! This group brings students together to share their perspectives, offer ideas and help shape decisions that impact students across the district.
From cafeteria food options and cell phone policies to school facilities and more, these student voices help provide valuable insight into what matters most to our learners.
By listening to students, STCS can continue working to create the best possible learning environment for everyone!

Congratulations to White Pine Middle School's Lauren Lewis on her outstanding run at the Bay City Western Cross Country Invite! She ran an impressive time of 11:26 for 2 miles, breaking the school record of 11:45 (held by Lauren Wellman since 2012).
In addition, she won her 15th invitational (2024-2026) breaking the previous record of 14 invitational wins (also held by Lauren Wellman).

Westdale second graders had a special visit from White Pine Middle School’s Educators of Tomorrow (EOT)! These future educators shared their love of reading with our young learners.
Launched after the 2020 pandemic to help grow the next generation of teachers, EOT has grown from a middle school club into a popular elective at White Pine, now serving 45 eighth-grade students across two sections!
Through hands-on classroom experiences, professional conferences and other learning opportunities, these students are discovering what it means to teach with purpose and lead with passion. The program is supported by a $10,000 annual Explore Grant secured by White Pine teacher and club advisor Tricia Benkert for the past five years.
