As most have noticed a thick haze with the smell of smoke has covered our area. This has been caused by the wind bringing in smoke from the wildfires in Canada. Air quality is not the greatest, stay indoors if you’re susceptible to respiratory problems. Hopefully this will move out of the area soon. Please do not call 911 for an odor of smoke unless you see a real hazardous conditions. Nearby counties are reporting being inundated with 911 calls for this. Have a blessed day.

Ladies and gentlemen. Please make sure you are drinking plenty of water through these extremely hot days. While I enjoy a good cup of coffee or Iced Tea. These are not good hydrating options, you want to try to stay away from caffeinated beverages when it’s hot like this. Also the water you drink today is for tomorrow. Add a pinch of salt as this helps absorption. Stay cool everyone ! Have a blessed week.

There is another risk of severe weather for our area today. Keep an eye on media outlets or have a weather radio for the most up do date information. While the county sets off our tornado sirens should we have a warning, sirens were meant to be heard if you’re outdoors. They have to wait for confirmation from the state before they can activate or if a first responder agency visually sees a threat of tornado. So sometimes there can be a delay from when you see a warning on TV and hear the sirens actually activate. Have a safe and blessed day today !

At this time we are lifting the burn ban. Please continue to use caution as there is still a lot of dry material close to the ground.

****Regarding Open burning / burn permits***** I am currently watching the fire threat levels for our region. We are listed as very high. I haven’t placed a burning ban on as of right now but am closely looking at the forecast. Please be mindful of the extreme dry conditions we currently have. Saginaw county has been placed in a red flag warning. This means fire conditions are high due to the high winds, and dry conditions. We have not suspended burning yet, however please be mindful of open burning, as we continue to monitor conditions.
