Summer heat continues with highs near or slightly above normal across North and Central Texas. A very weak disturbance may bring a stray shower or thunderstorm Friday afternoon/evening, but the vast majority of us will continue to remain dry. Stay cool at there!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended Thursday's meeting and shared so many excellent ideas for building and improving a CERT go-bag. The discussion was full of practical tips and great suggestions that will help us all be better prepared.

We also had the pleasure of presenting CERT backpacks to Frankie, Maggie, Daryl, and Randy in recognition of completing CERT Basic Training and participating in a deployment. Congratulations on this well-deserved milestone, and thank you for your commitment to serving our community!

We're proud to have each of you as part of the Northwest Tarrant CERT team.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from Northwest Tarrant CERT! 🇺🇸

As you celebrate with family, friends, and neighbors, we hope you have a fun, safe, and memorable Independence Day.

A few simple reminders can help keep everyone safe:
🎆 Leave fireworks to responsible adults and follow all local laws.
🔥 Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby when using fireworks or grilling.
🌭 Never leave a grill unattended, and keep it away from homes, fences, and dry grass.
💧 Stay hydrated—it’s going to be a hot one!
🐾 Remember that fireworks can be stressful for pets. Keep them indoors in a secure, comfortable place.
🚗 If you're traveling, drive safely, stay alert, and never drive impaired.

Emergencies don't take holidays, but a little preparation goes a long way.

Have a wonderful Fourth of July, and thank you for helping make our community a safer place!

UPDATE 7/1 10:45 PM: The repair is complete, and water is being restored to the affected area (commercial properties in the 600 block of Bailey Boswell Road). There are no water quality concerns with this main break. Lanes that were closed in this area for the repairs will be reopened.

UPDATE 7/1 2:05 PM: The location of the water main break has been isolated, and repairs are currently in progress. The initial estimated restoration time for customers without water is 6 to 8 hours. At this time, the outage is limited to commercial properties in the 600 block of Bailey Boswell Road. No residential customers are affected. There are no water quality concerns with this main break.

WATER MAIN BREAK ALERT: The city is aware of a water main break caused by a contractor at E Bailey Boswell Rd & Basswood Blvd. Our Public Works crews are on site and actively working to address the issue. As a result, several areas are currently without water service.
