An EMS Christmas Story
'Twas the night before Christmas, in a small, nicely lit town, when EMS was called to a scene profound. The dispatch relayed with urgent tone, a family in need, feeling alone.
Dispatch: The call came in at 2307, a family's Christmas tree suddenly ablaze, smoke filling the room in a dense, choking haze.
Response: The EMS team, with hearts both brave and stout, quickly geared up and hurried out. Lights flashing in the snowy night, they drove with care, keeping the scene in sight.
Arrival: At 2315, they arrived, finding a family outside, grateful to have survived. The fire department was battling the flame, while EMS focused on those they came to claim.
Assessment: The father, coughing, with soot-stained face, was first to be assessed at this place. His breathing was rough, but no burns found, his spirit shaken, but physically sound. Next, the mother, trembling in fright, her breathing was quick, but no injuries in sight. Lastly, a child, with tears in their eyes, scared but unharmed, under the starry skies. Pertinent negatives were noted for each, no major injuries within reach.
Treatment: Oxygen was given to aid their breath, calming their fears of a close brush with death.
Transport: Carefully, each patient was led to the cot, wrapped in blankets, for it was bitterly cold and fraught. They were transported to the nearest ER, with reassurances that help wasn't far.
Transfer: At the hospital, the family was moved to beds, nurses ready to take over, as the EMS team said their farewells, their duty now over.
Documentation: The paperwork was filled with care, detailing each action taken there, ensuring that every step was clear, in the spirit of Christmas cheer.
In the end, the family was safe, thanks to the team who arrived with grace. And as the EMS drove away from the sight, they whispered, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night."
