🏆 Big news: Sahuarita Stars & Stripes just won Outstanding Special Event (Populations 25,000–100,000) at the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association's Best of the Best Awards!

Events Supervisor Lacey Simmons and Events Coordinator Manny Alvarez accepted the award this week at APRA's 76th Anniversary Conference in Phoenix — recognition for the drone-and-fireworks show, water play, and community spirit that made this year's Stars & Stripes one to remember.

This win belongs to our whole events team, our volunteers, our sponsors, and every neighbor who came out to celebrate with us. Congratulations, Lacey and Manny — Sahuarita is proud of you! 🎉

Registration for our Fall Girls Flag Football season is OPEN today! Presented in partnership with the International Women's Flag Football Association (IWFFA), this program gives girls ages 8–16 the chance to learn the game in a positive, supportive environment — no previous experience needed. All equipment and supplies are included, and along the way she'll build real skills in passing, catching, and game strategy, plus teamwork, leadership, and confidence.

Heads up: after you register with the Town, a free IWFFA Exclusive Membership is also required — quick to complete online.

Practice week runs September 28–October 2 at Anza Trail Park, with game day Saturday, October 3 at Quail Creek Veterans Municipal Park. $40 per player, and space is limited — register early!

Trivia 'N Family takes over the La Villita Community Center for two hours of questions, categories built for every age at the table, and the kind of bragging rights nobody in your house will ever let go of.

This one's built so the whole family can actually play — not just the adults while the kids sit there. Bring the ten-year-old who memorizes dinosaur facts, bring grandma, bring the neighbor who somehow knows every state capital. Ages 6 and up.

Grab your glove and rally your team. 🥎

Fall Adult Co-Ed Softball rosters close tomorrow night, and there's still room on the schedule for your crew. Round up the coworkers, the neighbors, the group chat that's been talking about it since last season.

Guys, we've got open spots waiting on you. Co-ed rosters need a good mix, and right now the guys' side has the most room — so if you've been thinking about it, this is your window.

Tuesday nights under the lights at Anza Trail Park, Fields 1 and 2 — September 8 through November 10. Eight-week regular season plus a single-elimination tournament to close it out. Game times rotate each night at 6:30, 7:35 and 8:40, so everybody gets a turn at the good slot. Games are professionally officiated and played under a custom Town of Sahuarita rulebook. All skill levels welcome, ages 16 and up.

Free agent · $50 — flying solo is fine, we'll place you on a roster

Something's stirring in Sahuarita. 🧟

The Zombie Color Crawl returns Saturday, October 3 at Man in the Maze (I'itoi) Trails Park. Check-in opens at 6:30 PM and the race begins at 7:30 PM.

Here's how it works: runners take one complete lap around the course while zombies wait along the route to color-tag anyone who passes. Everyone who finishes gets a finisher's prize. We recommend wearing white — it makes the color show up, and it makes for a great photo at the finish line.

This one's built for the whole family. It's $10 per person for ages 9 and up, and kids 8 and under are free. Registering a family? Each participant needs to be listed individually on your account — sign in, choose "Add New Account Member," then head back to the activity.

Register by Saturday, September 6 to receive a Zombie Color Crawl T-shirt. That's the deadline for shirts, though registration itself stays open right up until race night.

Last call for Paint 'N Family. Registration closes tonight at 11:59 PM. 🎨

Bring the family out for a relaxing, creative Paint by Numbers Night at La Villita. Whether you're an experienced artist or just picking up a brush for the fun of it, everyone can turn simple numbered sections into something colorful. It's the kind of evening where the painting is really just an excuse to sit around a table together, share some laughs, and unwind one brushstroke at a time.

We'll have some snacks available, but bringing your own drinks and snacks is highly encouraged. Painting brings hunger.
