You may have seen our operation crews out visiting businesses the past few weeks. Each year crews visit each commercial building in the city for the purposes of preplanning. This allows your professional fire department to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally when/if disaster strikes. Preparation is key to overall outcomes!

🔥Today at approximately 4:30pm St. Albans FD was dispatched to Edgehill Dr for a structure fire. Fire Marshal 906 arrived and communicated an exterior fire in leaves that gathered near the house around a small generator that was in use. The fire was quickly extinguished by SAFD crews. Thanks to all mutual aid departments for heading our way while we determined on scene needs.
⚠️We would like to remind homeowners that leaves gathered around and against your home can be a major fire hazard.
⚠️Generator safety is also very important. Portable generators should be kept a minimum of 20’ from any openings in the home to protect occupants from carbon monoxide, and 3-10 feet from any shrubs, leaves or other combustibles.
