Lakewood sends our deepest condolences to Winfield Fire Department....
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our longest serving member, Roger “Pogo” Sheets, a cornerstone of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department and a beloved figure throughout our community.
Pogo dedicated 65 years of service to WVFD, holding every position from Junior Firefighter all the way to Chief. His commitment, leadership, and steady presence shaped generations of firefighters and strengthened the department in ways that will be felt for decades to come.
Whether he was mentoring new members, sharing stories around the station, or lending a hand anywhere it was needed, Pogo was always there. He was more than a firefighter, he was family, a friend, and a constant source of pride for Winfield.
We are grateful for his lifetime of service and the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the honor of serving beside him. Please also keep WVFD in your prayers as we navigate this new norm with a void that may never be filled. Rest easy Pogo, we've got it from here...
