Hathaway Point was established in 1838 when Hiram Hathaway and his family came to farm, fish, and raise 8 children. Civil war soldiers trained on the shores and fields in the 1860s. In the 1880s Hiram Jr operated “Hathaway’s Picnic Point” and catered to campers. Descendants continue to reside on and enjoy the Point today. The Point is more than a place, and far more than one family. Many wonderful people reside, camp, and visit.. some for several generations. Lasting memories and relationships abound in this close community.
