🚧 REMINDER FOR TONIGHT: BRIDGE CLOSURE & EVENT TRAFFIC

As we get ready for tonight’s St. Albans-Nitro Labor Day Fireworks Show, motorists are reminded that the Dick Henderson Memorial Bridge will close to vehicle traffic from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The bridge will be open to pedestrians during the event, with fireworks beginning promptly at 9:30 p.m.

If you are traveling between St. Albans and Nitro this evening, please plan ahead, allow extra time and use an alternate route during the bridge closure.

Please use caution near viewing areas and be alert for increased pedestrian traffic.

The lower portion and boat ramp area will close Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 p.m.

Dick Henderson Memorial Bridge
Closed to vehicle traffic Sunday, Sept. 6, from 8:30-10:30 p.m. The bridge will be open to pedestrians for fireworks viewing.

The fireworks begin promptly at 9:30 p.m.

As we prepare for Sunday’s St. Albans-Nitro Labor Day Fireworks Show, please be aware of these upcoming closures:

City of St. Albans offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

Trash pickup will run one day behind for the week:

Monday, Sept. 7: No pickup
Tuesday, Sept. 8: Monday route
Wednesday, Sept. 9: Tuesday route
Thursday, Sept. 10: Wednesday route
Friday, Sept. 11: Thursday route

There will be no extra pickup on Friday.
