St. Anne Community High School Names Brooks Schoon Head Boys Basketball Coach

St. Anne Community High School is proud to announce that Brooks Schoon was approved as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach by the Board of Education at the October 15th, 2026 meeting. A proud Cardinal alumnus who continued his basketball career at Aurora University, Coach Schoon has spent the past three seasons serving as the program’s Junior Varsity Head Coach. He now takes the reins of a program rich in tradition, following in the footsteps of his father, legendary coach Rick Schoon, who led the Cardinals for 27 years, earned over 500 career victories, captured the 2008 IHSA State Championship, and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Having grown up immersed in Cardinal basketball, Brooks brings a deep understanding of the program’s history, a passion for developing student-athletes, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards established by his father. Coach Schoon is excited to begin this next chapter, building upon the strong culture, proud tradition, and championship legacy of Cardinal basketball while continuing to make the St. Anne community proud.
