⚠️Hazardous Conditions this Weekend ⚠️

St. Johns County Emergency Management is urging residents to avoid driving through flooded roadways, stay out of dangerous surf, and secure outdoor decorations and loose objects as strengthening northeast winds and unusually high tides are expected to bring hazardous conditions to St. Johns County this weekend.

⚠️ Expected Impacts:

🌊 Coastal Flooding: A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect, with moderate to potentially major tidal flooding possible around high tide. Low-lying areas along the Atlantic coast, Intracoastal Waterway, and St. Johns River are particularly vulnerable.

💨 Strong Winds: Gusty northeast winds could reach Wind Advisory levels Saturday afternoon through Monday, especially near the coast and St. Johns River.

🏖️ Beach Conditions: Dangerous surf, a high risk of rip currents, and significant beach erosion are expected through much of next week.

🌧️ Rainfall: Locally heavy rainfall along the coast is possible Saturday afternoon and evening.

✅ What Residents Should Do:

-Monitor high tide times and prepare for flooding in vulnerable areas.
-Move vehicles and secure property in locations prone to tidal flooding.
-Secure loose outdoor items ahead of increasing winds.
-Stay out of the surf and use caution near beaches and waterways.
-Avoid flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown!

🌧️ Scheduled Citywide Stormwater Drainage System Cleaning and Inspection

The City of St. Augustine Beach will begin a proactive stormwater drainage pipe cleaning and inspection project on Monday, October 26, 2026, along 2nd Avenue, between A Street and 11th Street.

Residents are asked to use caution while travelling within the project area.

📅 Project Schedule:
Work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

This project is part of the City’s routine stormwater maintenance program and supports compliance with the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II permit requirements for stormwater management.

The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as this important maintenance work is completed.

This week, Chief Carswell met with residents of The Carriage Homes at Makarios to discuss the City of St. Augustine Beach’s E-Bike Ordinance and answer questions about safe, responsible riding. It was a great discussion that highlighted the Police Department’s commitment to education, awareness, and how the department plans to work with neighborhoods to help keep our community safe.

Our partners at US National Weather Service Jacksonville Florida are forecasting increasing northeast winds and elevated coastal flooding heading into the weekend.

🌊 Coastal Flooding: Minor tidal flooding continues, with moderate flooding possible this weekend, especially around high tide in low-lying coastal areas, along the Intracoastal Waterway, and near the St. Johns River.

💨 Wind: Strong northeast winds are expected to develop Friday night and continue through the weekend, especially near the coast and I-95 corridor.

🏖️ Beach Conditions: High surf, dangerous rip currents, and beach erosion are possible.

🌧️ Rainfall: Locally heavy rainfall is possible this weekend, particularly in coastal areas.

✅ What Residents Can Do:

-Avoid driving through flooded roadways.
-Secure loose outdoor items ahead of increasing winds.
-Stay out of the surf due to dangerous conditions
-Stay informed through official weather updates.

Minor tidal flooding around times of high tide continues through at least Wed night for the northeast Florida Atlantic coast & within the St. Johns river basin.
