After nine years of service to the families who lost a veteran to su***de, we find ourselves still learning and improving. DIC Benefits sometimes elude our families, as PTSD is not always listed as service-related. Why? Because the veteran doesn't want to talk about it. (That's a major contributor to 22/day.)

We've increased our DIC Benefits resource and it is now available for our viewers.

DIC benefits are available to all veteran families, but only if you quality. Here is DIC benefits explained so we can all understand.

Congress is never short on new bills designed to help veterans. Here's a promising one:

H.R. 6047 — the Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act of 2026. This bipartisan bill reflects a commitment to making sure those who serve — and their families — are taken care of. It now heads to the full House for consideration. Here's what it would do:

🎖️ Disability compensation boost: Veterans who qualify for Aid & Attendance benefits would receive an additional $833/month on top of their existing compensation — effective December 1, 2026.

📈 DIC cost-of-living raises: Surviving spouses and dependents receiving Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) would see automatic increases tied to Social Security COLA adjustments, plus an additional 1% bump.

🏠 Expanded VA home loan access: National Guard and Reserve members would gain broader eligibility for VA-guaranteed home loans, including retroactive credit for service dating back to September 11, 2001. Members with as few as 14 days of qualifying service could access these benefits.

This bipartisan bill reflects a commitment to making sure those who serve — and their families — are taken care of. It now heads to the full House for consideration.

I need to tell you about a group of families nobody is counting.

When a veteran dies by su***de, the grief is immediate. The bills don't wait. The kids still need breakfast. And the VA paperwork arrives before the funeral flowers have wilted.

These mothers — raising children alone, denied the benefits their husbands earned, fighting a bureaucratic appeals process that takes an average of FIVE AND A HALF YEARS — don't exist in any federal database as their own category.

They have no name. No dedicated study. No income data. Nothing.

The median single mom earns $41,000 a year.
A mom with 3 kids needs $71,000 just to cover basics.
The gap between those two numbers? That's where these families are living.

I've spent years working with Once A Soldier, an organization founded in 2017 to support veteran families after su***de loss. We focus on the moms. We focus on the kids. Because they are the ones still here — and they need us.

We're naming this population: Fractured Veteran Families.

Not because they're broken beyond repair. But because a fracture — left untreated — becomes something that changes a family forever.

If this moves you, please share this post. And if you can support the mission, even a small donation changes the daily reality for a mom who is holding everything together with nothing left in the tank.

These families served this country too. It's time we acted like it.

Veteran Su***de Survivor Families are forgotten in the USA. Denied benefits, long review times, the VA wants them to just go away.

Why would the VA remove the web pages for Burn Pit and Airborne Hazard from Military Health website? To make it harder to get help.

Find out what Veterans think about Pentagon Pete's forced viewing of his religious rant. R-rate for sure as we let Veterans speak their mind.

"Pentagon Pete" Hegseth's religious order to have the military elite watch his religious rant goes against his personal life.
