Lawmakers return Tuesday, May 12 to finish the one job they’re constitutionally required to do: pass a state budget.

They return as Florida ranks 50th in the nation in average teacher pay for the third year in a row, class sizes grow, and vital programs like arts and music are reduced or eliminated from public schools.

The state’s widely expanded and used school choice voucher system is unconstitutional because it doesn’t provide for free, uniform education, the Florida Education Association argued in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
