This is exciting news to see Saltrun routinely getting dredged, thanks to our funding partners at Florida Inland Navigation District (F.I.N.D) and The St. Augustine Port Waterway & Beach District (SAPWBD)!
⚠️ Boaters please be cautious as you transit through Saltrun.

Salt Run Channel Maintenance Continues 🌊

Starting in October, the City will begin dredging Salt Run from the Lighthouse Park Boat Ramp to the St. Augustine Inlet. Over 12,000 cubic yards of material will be removed to improve channel width and depth, supporting safe navigation for boaters and healthy tidal exchange for local habitats.

Thanks to multi-year grants from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) and the St. Augustine Port, Waterway, and Beach District (SAPWBD), this project and many others are made possible.

The dredged material will be transported to Jacksonville’s Reed Island DMMA for future reuse in beach renourishment, construction, and land reclamation.

Tropical Storm Imelda decided to turn away from Florida thankfully!
Regardless, we'll still see dangerous marine conditions over the next couple days with North winds 25-30 kts.

🌀We’re not expecting any local impacts at the moment, but please keep an eye on possible tropical development off of our coast, expect Marine advisories to be an effect as the forecast develops.

From our partners at US National Weather Service Jacksonville Florida

⛈️Thunderstorms chances increase today through Saturday for our area as a front approaches, then begins to stall across the area tonight.
🌀 There is high confidence of a tropical depression forming near the Bahamas later today or sometime this weekend as the system tracks northward. At this time, the most likely scenario is for this system to track offshore and parallel to the Florida coast late Sunday through Tuesday
🌊 Dangerous marine & surf zone hazards are increasingly likely late Sunday through at least Wednesday next week across the local Atlantic waters and at local beaches. Hazards include Advisory conditions for the marine waters, rough/high surf, frequent, deadly rip currents and beach erosion.
👉 NOTE - any westward track 'nudge' would increase local impact potential. PLEASE continue to monitor the latest forecasts at hurricanes.gov through the weekend
