πŸ§‘β€πŸ¦² Bald and proud

Happy Wildlife Wednesday! This wood stork (Mycteria americana) was seen keeping watch over Fort Mose. We're all looking for ways to beat the heat, and when storks need to thermoregulate, theyβ€”

You know what? We're going to let you look that up yourselves. We'll just say it's probably not going to catch on with humans.

πŸ‘¦ Boys Fishing Camp 2026 recap 🎣

Eighty fish caught, one mystery shoe reeled in, and one camper leading the pack with 12 fish! The boys brought the competition, the laughs, and apparently some footwear from the deep.

They set the bar high… but now it’s time to see what the girls can do. Girls Fishing Camp, the challenge is officially on: Catch more than 80 fish, avoid the footwear, and bring home the bragging rights! πŸ‘§

πŸ‘ Small, generous host

Happy Wildlife Wednesday from one of our favorite neighbors, the gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus). This one was seen in the Saturiwa Conservation Area in Elkton. When they dig their burrows (usually around 15 feet long and 6.5 feet deep, but they can be more expansive), they don't only keep the tortoises safeβ€”over 350 other species share those tortoise digs, including burrowing owls and various species of frogs, snakes, mice, and invertebrates.
