A little summer harvest before we make way for fall! 🌻🍉

Our Community Garden is getting ready for a new growing season. As we clear and prepare the garden beds for fall planting, we harvested some of summer’s bounty, including watermelon, cantaloupe, sweet potatoes, and sunflowers.

There’s plenty of work that goes into the garden between planting and harvest, and we’re grateful for the helping hands that keep it growing for families on our campus.

Hunger Action Month is an opportunity to recognize the neighbors, organizations, and communities helping keep our food pantry stocked throughout the year.

Through July, the Homeless Coalition’s food pantry served 3,916 households in 2026, including 504 households in July alone. In 2025, the pantry served 6,843 households.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated food, organized a collection, provided financial support, or helped spread the word about our pantry needs. Recent donations from the Nocatee community, Staci Gil of Watson Realty and the St. Johns Golf & Country Club community, and Rise Yoga are wonderful examples of the generosity that helps us serve our campus residents and neighbors in need.

The need continues, and during Hunger Action Month, you can help us keep the shelves stocked. Our most-needed food items include canned tuna, chicken, Spam, and Vienna sausages with easy-open lids; peanut butter and jelly; granola bars and oatmeal packets; cereal and shelf-stable milk; snack crackers; and bottled water.

We also welcome gift cards for food and gas, sewing kits, toiletry items, and monetary donations.

Donations may be dropped off or delivered to the Homeless Coalition’s Office and Service Building, 64 Chapin Street in St. Augustine, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

A fresh haircut can make a difference in how you feel. ✂️

Local hairstylist Jennifer is generously donating her time to provide free haircuts at the Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County in September.

Stop by our campus at 64 Chapin Street on Tuesday, September 22nd, from 12:00–2:00 p.m.

We’re grateful to her for sharing their time and talents with our community.

We always look forward to our monthly visit from The Bike Men of Flagler County, Inc.!

These dedicated volunteers make the trip to the Homeless Coalition each month, bringing their mobile bike shop and their skills with them. They repair bicycles, handle needed maintenance, and help keep our neighbors safely on the road.

For someone who relies on a bicycle to get to work, appointments, the grocery store, or other essential destinations, a working bike can be an important part of staying independent and moving forward.

We are grateful to the Bike Men of Flagler County for their continued commitment, generosity, and friendship. Thank you for being such a blessing to our cycling community and for showing up, month after month, to help.

More homes mean more families have the opportunity to move forward.

Our $1,000 by 1,000 Campaign is helping us work toward Phase 2 of our campus expansion — 16 new affordable homes for families experiencing homelessness in St. Johns County.

For the parents and children who will one day call those homes their own, a front door represents much more than a place to live. It means stability, safety, and the opportunity to build a stronger future.

The goal is 1,000 people giving $1,000, but you don’t have to give $1,000 at once — or give alone. Make a one-time gift, give $84 a month for 12 months, or gather friends, coworkers, or members of your faith community to give together.

Growing smiles, memories, and a little extra birthday joy. 🌻🎒

Zac is pictured by our community garden with another wonderful delivery of August birthday backpacks for the children on our campus.

A big thank you to Zac, Marci, and the Altrusa Club of St. Augustine for continuing to make birthdays special. Each backpack is filled with pajamas, a book, a stuffed animal, and a lap blanket — thoughtful gifts that let each child know they are being celebrated.

We’re so grateful for the kindness and generosity behind this wonderful tradition. ❤️

Our new office has become home to something we didn’t quite expect — an art gallery of our own.

We are incredibly grateful to local artist Lenny Foster for his generous donation of four pieces now displayed on our walls. Two have a special connection to the Homeless Coalition, featuring the Willie Galimore House and the old schoolhouse, both on our campus.

The other two portray saints whose stories give the art even deeper meaning. St. Augustine of Hippo, the namesake of our city, is remembered for his story of transformation and redemption. Saints Perpetua and Felicity, patron saints of mothers and expectant mothers, were women from very different social circumstances whose story has endured as one of courage, faith, and human dignity.

Lenny chose people experiencing homelessness here in St. Johns County as the models for these portraits, bringing those centuries-old themes of dignity, resilience, and transformation into the present and grounding them in our own community.

Thank you, Lenny, for sharing your extraordinary talent and generosity with the Homeless Coalition. Your art has made our new office an even more meaningful place.

Mosquitoes and ticks may be small, but the risks they carry are worth talking about.

Homeless Coalition Board Chair Jeanne Moeller and Case Manager Marion Bloom joined Anne Schindler on WJCT’s First Coast Connect to talk about tonight’s Mosquitoes and Ticks Oh No! event and our partnership with Anastasia Mosquito Control.

Join us tonight, August 20th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Disease Vector Education Center, 120 EOC Drive in St. Augustine. Tour the new student center beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by Dr. Ruide Xue’s presentation at 6:00 p.m. on mosquito- and tick-borne diseases, prevention, and protecting people and pets.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Bike Men of Flagler County, Inc. will offer free bike repairs on Tuesday, August 25th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Homeless Coalition St Johns County, 62 Chapin St.

Whether your bike needs a quick fix or regular maintenance, they can help. All are welcome.

Your generosity has been incredible, and we are so grateful for a community that continues to show up for families at the Homeless Coalition. ❤️

Thanks to an outpouring of donations, we are currently well stocked on clothing, household goods, and other non-food items. For the remainder of August, we kindly ask that donations be limited to food items for our Food Pantry.

We're currently accepting donations of:

• Canned or pouched tuna, chicken, Spam, and Vienna sausages
• Condiments, including mayo, mustard, ketchup, syrup, salad dressings, and BBQ sauce (regular sizes and individual packets)
• Canned fruit, vegetables, potatoes, soups, ravioli, and spaghetti
• Cereal, oatmeal, and grits
• Dry milk
• Pasta and spaghetti sauce
• Boxed meals
• Individually wrapped snacks, chips, popcorn, and crackers
• Ready-to-eat microwave mac & cheese
• Cup of Noodles
• Peanut butter and jelly
• Pancake mix in jugs
• Baby food
• Sugar packets
• Bottled water and juice boxes
• Coffee and tea
• Flavored drink mixes
