Who knew the first week of summer could be this wild and wonderful?

Our campus kids had an incredible start to their first week off from school! Thanks to the generous support of our community, the children enjoyed a fun scavenger hunt filled with clues, to the tune of “Going on a Bear Hunt.” They swam like fish, hopped like frogs, and flew like birds at each clue stop. At every stop, the children received items to fill their summer survival bucket, including sunglasses, bubbles, crayons, and more.

A special thank you goes to the Sisterhood for Service of Bannon Lakes for purchasing the prizes and managing the clue stops. Students from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences also helped make the event enjoyable, and we appreciate the Tale Tellers for assisting with the clues, songs, and actions.

As the scavenger hunt concluded, the final clue led the children to the field for a special surprise: a bubble truck! The children and their families had a fantastic time.

We also want to thank Gather Church for sponsoring the bubble truck and contributing to our amazing summer kickoff.

You could say that hope is setting in concrete.

In Debi’s end-of-week update, we celebrate a significant milestone: the pouring of sidewalks and office steps as Phase 1 progresses. This new space will enable us to better serve families by providing the resources and support they need to overcome homelessness.

Stand with us as we build—your support today helps us open more doors tomorrow.

The Altrusa Club of St. Augustine's "Birthday Backpack" for our May birthday celebration has arrived!

A big thank you to Zac and Marci for remembering our campus children's birthdays each month. Each backpack is filled with pajamas, a book, a stuffed animal, and a lap blanket. Our kids absolutely love their birthday backpacks, and we appreciate their continued support.

More exciting progress on our campus!

Please join us at our next Open House at 62 Chapin Street on Monday, June 15th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. of our 5-acre campus in West Augustine. You will see the work completed on our Phase 1 expansion, our food pantry, and learn about our plans to create 16 new affordable rental homes on our campus.

Our campus features 23 cottages that provide stability for families who have experienced homelessness. We offer essential support services to these families and our low-income neighbors.

The mission of the Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of homeless families with minor children. We provide the housing and services necessary for these families to stay together, stabilize their lives, save toward affordable permanent housing, and break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Wishing you a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

During our May Neighborhood Watch meeting, residents listened to Larry McGinnis, who shared valuable insights on basic automotive repair and offered tips on how to save money by performing routine maintenance themselves. Attendees left with many useful tips.

Memorial Presbyterian Church USA provided another delicious dinner, featuring pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, and brownies.

Thank you to Larry and Memorial Presbyterian Church for their ongoing support of families at the Homeless Coalition.

Community partners play a vital role in strengthening the Homeless Coalition.

Thank you to Keller Williams St. Johns for their generous volunteering efforts at ou campus during RED Day last week. ❤️❤️❤️

Over 20 volunteers dedicated their time and energy to various tasks, including painting the inside of our pantry, refreshing porches and playground equipment, weeding our grounds, organizing our container pantry, staining the privacy fence, pulling weeds, and building garden beds. Their hard work has made a significant impact on the lives of those we serve.

RED Day is an annual initiative by Keller Williams focused on giving back. Every second Thursday in May, agents, leaders, and associates come together to Renew, Energize, and Donate to the communities they call home.

Your support truly makes a difference! To learn more about volunteer opportunities, how we assist homeless families, and ways you can help, please visit https://homelesscoalitionstjohns.com.
