***Main Street to Close Temporarily for the Arcada 100th Anniversary Parade Sunday***
The 100-year Anniversary Arcada Parade will be held on Main Street (Illinois Rt. 64) this Sunday, September 6th. Main Street will be closed between 5th Ave. (IL Rt. 25) east of the river, to 7th Street on the west side of the river for the parade. Police will implement a detour route beginning at 2:30 p.m. through approximately 3:30 p.m.
As a reminder, no parking will be allowed along the parade route on Main Street during the event.
Detour Routes:
• Those traveling west will be directed either north on IL Rt. 25 to the Red Gate Bridge or south to Illinois Avenue, then west across the river to 7th Street.
• Those traveling east will be directed either north on 7th Street to State Street, then east to IL Rt. 31 and north to the Red Gate Bridge, or south at 7th Street to Illinois Street, and then east across the river to IL Rt. 25.
Police and Emergency Management Personnel will be positioned at key locations to assist with traffic direction. Motorists are advised to expect delays when traveling throughout the city. Police remind drivers to use care and to be watchful for pedestrians.
In addition, the St. Charles Police Department may be utilizing a drone during the parade. Signs will also be posted at major entry points informing attendees that a drone may be in use for real-time monitoring to ensure participant safety.
Under State law 725 ILCS 167/5, police are required to give 24-hour advanced public notice of planned drone use. These drones will adhere strictly to FAA safety regulations during their operation.
