The Kane County Law Library & Self Help Legal Center’s social media policy includes, but is not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Social media platforms are used to push out information about the Law Library, its programs, and information of importance and interest to its users
and potential users. Comments posted by members of the public do not necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of the Law Library. Comments containing any of the following are not permitted and are subject to removal:
Obscene, sexual, or pornographic content or language.
Content that promotes discrimination based on race, age, religion, gender, or any other protected status.
Content that violates any legal ownership interest such as copyright or trademark law.
Threats.
Conduct that violates, or encourages the violation of, any federal, state, or local law.
Commercial activity or promotion that is not related to the business of the Law Library.
Spam or links to malicious programs or viruses. This policy is notwithstanding any internal policies, monitoring, or terms of use of the social media platform. The Law Library reserves the right to report any violation of terms of use to the social media platform. Users who enter private or personal information on the Law Library’s social media sites do so at their own risk, and the Law Library is not responsible for any damages resulting from the public display of, or failure to remove, private or personal information. Content may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, and retention pursuant to the Illinois Local Records Act. This policy may be amended without notice.
