🚧 Overnight Crack Sealing Begins August 31st 🚧

Overnight pavement crack sealing is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, August 31st, weather permitting.

Work will take place Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to reduce daytime traffic impacts.

Crews will progress from one roadway segment to another throughout the project as work is completed at the following locations:

• Randall Road from Crane Road to Gyorr Road
• Randall Road from just north of Longmeadow Parkway to North County Line Road
• Kirk Road and Fabyan Parkway intersection

The roadways will remain open during construction; however, temporary lane closures will be required, with traffic reduced to one lane and flaggers directing motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should use additional caution, follow the directions of flaggers, and watch for workers, equipment, and trucks entering and leaving live traffic lanes.

The project is anticipated to be completed in approximately six to eight weeks, weather permitting.

🚧 Kane County Annual Pavement Marking Program 🚧

The Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) is scheduled to conduct its annual pavement marking work beginning this week, weather permitting. The work will include the installation of both painted and urethane pavement markings on County highways.

🚧 Paint Pavement Markings
Fresh paint pavement markings will be applied to approximately 236 miles of County highways, primarily on rural routes, to improve lane visibility for motorists.

🚧 Urethane Pavement Markings
Urethane pavement markings will be installed on approximately 17 miles of County highways. Urethane provides a more durable alternative to water-based paint and is used primarily on higher-traffic routes to improve the longevity of pavement markings.

Temporary daily lane closures will be in place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Temporary flagger control at intersections will be used as needed throughout the routes.

Motorists are asked to slow down, watch for workers and equipment on the roadway and shoulders, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution when traveling through freshly marked areas.

Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2026, weather permitting.

📍 Please see the maps included with this post for pavement marking locations.

🚧 Annual Chip Sealing Program Scheduled to Begin July 20th 🚧

The Kane County Annual Chip Sealing Program is scheduled to begin the week of July 20th, weather permitting. Construction work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Roadways will remain open during construction; however, temporary daily lane closures will be necessary. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic and help ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public.

🚧 Annual Asphalt Rejuvenator Program Scheduled to Begin June 22nd 🚧

The Kane County Annual Asphalt Rejuvenator Program is scheduled to begin the week of June 22, 2026, weather permitting. The program applies an asphalt rejuvenator to roads that were resurfaced within the last year to help extend the life of the pavement.

The process includes applying a rejuvenator liquid, allowing it to cure, placing sand on the treated roads for traction, and then sweeping up excess material following completion of the treatment. This preventative maintenance reduces oxidation of the asphalt and helps prevent water from seeping into the pavement, protecting against freeze/thaw damage during the winter months.

Work is expected to occur Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Treatment operations will progress from location to location, and the schedule and sequence of work are subject to change based on weather and operational needs.

Roadways included in this year's program are:

• Huntley Road
• Galligan Road / Tyrrell Road
• Plato Road
• McGough Road
• Kirk Road (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)

Roadways will remain open during treatment; however, temporary lane closures may be necessary, and traffic may be reduced to a single lane with the use of flaggers. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use caution in work zones and follow directions from flaggers.
