The Ridgeway Free Library is serving up free books and BOOs! đŸ‘»

Got something lurking on your shelves? We’re dying for donations this spooky season — especially children’s books about Halloween, monsters, or anything that’ll give the little boils and ghouls a delightful fright.

We also welcome horror for all ages. If it gives you chills, thrills, or mild existential dread, it belongs here.

Drop a book. Take a scare. On Ridgeway between Jefferson and Greater Mack. Support your local haunt. 💀📚

Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books, a “wholesome” Southern book box gets hijacked by s**t and subversion. The town loses its mind—which sounds a lot like the ignorance and overreaction simulator that is the St Clair Shores Facebook group. This book probably isn’t friendly to the posting-rants-in-my-truck-in-sunglasses crowd.

True Life in Uncanny Valley is about a teen who cons her way into her tech bro dad’s fake family. Robots have more emotional range. -p

“Let’s get some love for comic books. I grew up on comics and though I once tried to put away childish things I’ve turned the page on comics in my grumpy old age (HA two cliches and a pun. Take that creative writing!). These are free comic books from Free Comic Book Day at the WONDERFUL Comic Signal in Grand Rapids.”

We’ve got some great new and newish releases in the LFL tonight! Phantasma was snatched up within an hour (and I can’t blame whoever grabbed it, it’s a personal fave!) and has been replaced with GOD OF THE WOODS by Liz Moore! It’s a slow burn literary thriller that is perfect for your summer reading.

HATE WON’T WIN is by Michigan State Senator ! It’s an expansion on her viral speech and details her path to the Senate, but also practical ways to engage with your local government.

THE BLUE HOUR by Paula Hawkins is also sure to be a heart pounding thriller if you need something to get your heart pounding around your Memorial Day campfire.

Take one home with ya, or leave some other loved favorites if you’re able! - C

“We had a drop off of some pretty awesome MANGA books today. I spent more than a few minutes looking through them and almost brought them back to read but decided against it. Samurai s**t 😎. Wolf, however, doesn’t have the same sort of self control when it comes to reading. He grabbed both Daniel Tiger books that someone dropped off and he’s carried them around all day. So whoever dropped off DT, you made a toddler’s day—and we’ll drop back in when he’s ready and keep them in the community.” -p

Spooky season reading doesn’t have to end on November 1st! Two carefully vetted and well enjoyed books are in the Little Free Library!

The Whispers follows a group of suburban parents and it has allll the tea. Whitney seems to be a perfect mother
until she is caught yelling at her son at a BBQ. A few months later, her son is rushed to the ER after a tragic accident and she is wracked with guilt because she knows the truth and wants to make sure no one else does. This book is twisty, filled with tension, and has unlikable characters (in the best way!)

The Ex-Hex has cozy, small town and witchy vibes. 9 years ago, a young witch cursed her ex but thought there was no way it worked—she used a Bath & Body Works candle, after all. Now, her ex has returned to their small, magical town to recharge the magic and discovers that the curse DID work. They need to work together now to try and reverse the curse and restore the town’s magic. I want to move to this town, it was a perfect romance for this time of year!

Come & get em before someone else does! đŸ–€C
