Happy Friday, everyone!

Today, we want to take a moment to discuss what you should do when an emergency vehicle is approaching with lights and sirens activated, along with a few important roadway safety tips.

Time is critical. Every second matters when we are responding to an emergency, and those seconds can make a significant difference in someone’s outcome. Our crews work hard to respond quickly, efficiently, and safely, but we also need the public’s help to make that possible.

When you see or hear an emergency vehicle approaching, please remember:

âś… Stay off your phone. Keep your eyes on the roadway and be aware of emergency vehicles around you.

âś… Move to the right. Pull over as far to the right as safely possible and allow the emergency vehicle a clear path.

✅ Do not stop on hills or curves. Stopping in these areas can make it extremely difficult—and sometimes unsafe—for emergency vehicles to get around you. Find a safe, visible, and level location whenever possible.

âś…Do not block intersections!

✅ Sometimes on Highway 44 we may need to use the far right shoulder to get access to a scene because the far left shoulder isn’t wide enough for our vehicles. If you see us coming up the shoulder on the highway please go to the left.

✅ Come to a complete stop. Once you pull over, stay stopped until the emergency vehicle has safely passed. Please do not continue driving 55 MPH down the shoulder. 🤦🏻‍♂️

âś… Be patient. We understand that everyone has somewhere to be, but please do not tailgate, follow closely, or attempt to pass an emergency vehicle while its lights and sirens are activated.

Remember, we’re not responding to inconvenience you—we’re responding because someone needs help. Your cooperation helps us get where we’re needed safely and as quickly as possible.

Clear roads. Safe responses. Faster help.

Thank you for doing your part and helping keep our emergency responders—and everyone on the roadway—safe!

Folks it’s about to get hot and dangerous outside!

⚠️Extreme Heat Warning today and Monday. The heat index is expected to climb to 110 and higher for almost all of Missouri this afternoon and again on Monday afternoon.⚠️

🚨Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
🚨Drink plenty of water, sports drinks, or natural fruit juices to stay hydrated.
🚨Avoid alcohol and beverages that contain caffeine as these tend to be dehydrating.
🚨If outdoor activity is unavoidable, take plenty of breaks in the shade, or in an air conditioned environment away from the heat.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Walmart – Union (E. Central Ct.) for their generous donation of two televisions for our staffed fire stations.

These TVs will serve as dedicated displays for our Computer Aided Dispatching. Allowing our crews to monitor incidents dispatched through Franklin County Missouri 911/Communications in real time. They will also provide continuous access to severe weather information and road conditions from the Missouri Department of Transportation, helping our personnel stay informed and better prepared to serve our community.

This generous donation is a valuable addition to both stations and will enhance our operational awareness and emergency response capabilities.

Thank you, Walmart, for your continued support of first responders and your investment in the safety of our community. We truly appreciate your generosity!
