8 Back-to-School Tips for Families
Transitions to new routines, teachers, and expectations can bring a mix of excitement and nervousness. Here are research-supported strategies families can practice at home for a confident start:

1. Build Predictable Routines: Establish consistent bedtime, wake-up, and mealtime schedules to provide security and ease anxiety.

2. Gradually Adjust Sleep Schedules: Shift bedtime and wake-up times by 10–15 minutes every few days leading up to school.

3. Talk About School Positively: Use calm, positive, and concrete language when discussing the new school year.

4. Preview the School Environment: Drive by the school, visit the playground, or attend orientation events to build familiarity.

5. Encourage Independence: Practice opening lunch containers, packing backpacks, and putting on coats before the first day.

6. Communicate with Your Child's Team: Share your child's strengths, interests, and needs with teachers to support a smooth transition.

7. Practice Self-Advocacy: Role-play simple phrases your child can use, such as "Can you help me?" or "I need a break".

8. Celebrate Small Successes: Ask your child at the end of each day to share one thing they enjoyed or accomplished to build resilience.

We look forward to partnering with you for a fantastic school year ahead!

Press Release
August 31, 2026

Saint Croix Falls High School achieves status as a U.S. News Best High School.

We are proud to announce that Saint Croix Falls High School ranked #86 out of 616 high schools (394 districts) in Wisconsin and earned a high National ranking in the 2026-2027 Best High Schools!

About 2026-2027 Best High Schools

The 2026-2027 edition of Best High Schools includes a numerical ranking of nearly all public high schools nationwide – almost 18,000 of them – based on multiple sources of objective data.

Your school’s U.S. News profile page includes information on enrollment, graduation rates, student body demographics, location, school type, state assessment results and Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests.

AP and IB data come directly from the College Board and International Baccalaureate, for use in the rankings.

State assessment data and graduation rates come from each state, and other data comes from the U.S. Department of Education Common Core of Data.

A great high school educates all of its students from different social and economic backgrounds, exposing them to challenging coursework on the path to graduation. The highest-ranked U.S. public schools in U.S. News & World Report's 2026-2027 Best High Schools rankings are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading, and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores on an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.

💙Welcome to Middle School!

Today, the Middle Schoolers had an assembly with important information for students to know as they enter 5-8th grade, followed by fun games to build friendships and introduce students to others they may not know yet.

These kids know how to have fun! We are looking forward to this school year!
