Our community has lost a great guy. Marty I don’t think you really understood the impact you had on our community. For most people around here when you think of the St.David Casey’s Marty comes to mind he was the face of the store. Mr.Caseys you went above and beyond especially when it came to helping the fire department on calls by donating donuts. Staying open just a little later to make sure we was able to get fuel back in the trucks on late night calls. You will be deeply missed. Our condolences go to the family and the Casey’s family as they go through this difficult time. We will keep them in our prayers. Rest in peace Marty.

We hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday! We wanted to take a moment to discuss a very important issue Did you know that out of the 15 departments that are in Fulton County only one department is full time. Every volunteer fire department in Fulton County is looking for new members. In the 1980's Buckheart fire had about 45 members all those members worked mostly local and was able to leave work to respond to calls homes were built stronger and had natural materials inside and it was estimated that a person had 17 minutes to escape. Now imagine it's 2025 our call numbers have doubled since the 80's and we are doing this with 15 to 20 members. Homes are now built the cheapest and have synthetic materials which causes fires to burn faster, hotter and produce more toxic gases. It is estimated that a person has 3 to 4 minutes to escape a house fire. Our members work all over hardly any work local and most of them are not allowed to leave work to respond so there's times we may only have 2 to 4 members on a call. Fulton County fire departments do have a agreement with each fire departments it's called MABAS that allows us to call for help when needed or give help when called. But as you read above this is every fire departments issues so we may have to call 3 other fire departments just to get a total of 15 firefighters on scene. We have heard people wanting to volunteer but just font know where to start or don't know if they will like it or they say they don't have the time for it. We encourage everyone that is physically able to reach out to your local volunteer fire department and see if you are able to help in anyway possible there is so many positions rather it be someone that just drives and pumps the fire trucks or someone that doesn't want to do the fire side at all but likes the rescue side better or just to try it out and see how it feels. We do understand people are busy in life and cant make every call or come to every training and as a department we try our best to provide different times and dates to provide what is needed for our members. Joining your local fire department is very rewarding you become family with every member and being a part or something much bigger!

On 14DEC2024, we had our annual Christmas Party. During that time, we handed out awards for Firefighter of the Year, EMS person of the Year, Officer of the Year, and last but not least we had a very special surprise award to give out.

Congratulations to our winners-
Marian Jugovic- Firefighter of the Year
Gage Embree- EMS person of the Year
Bryan Pasley- Officer of the Year

Lastly, we honored one of our members whom will be retiring at the end of this month having served 18 years as Secretary Treasurer of the department. Congratulations goes out to Donna Bennett! We appreciate all you have done and we will miss you! Enjoy your retirement!
