Justin Ward, 32, Ironwood, Michigan, was sentenced Tuesday to time served and three years of supervised release for making threats to injure law enforcement in the Western District of Wisconsin.

According to court records, on January 29, 2026, the Gogebic County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Office was investigating Ward for threatening to kill an Ironwood law enforcement officer. Deputies learned that Ward was travelling through Northern Wisconsin toward Duluth. While enroute Ward posted threats on Facebook that he was on his way to kill ICE agents. At the time, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was engaged in a widely publicized operation in Minneapolis. Ward was arrested and charged with making threats to kill ICE agents.

The charge against Ward was the result of an investigation by FBI Milwaukee's Eau Claire Resident Agency, FBI - Detroit's Marquette Resident Agency and the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office.

⏬Largest year-to-year decline in murder on record⏬

In 2025, our country saw the largest year-to-year decrease in murder and nonnegligent manslaughter rates. The FBI worked unflaggingly to combat violent crime in 2025 alongside our partners.

Wisconsin’s violent crime numbers reflect the decrease in crimes across the nation, with over a 15% decrease in violent crime rates.

Every day, the men and women of the FBI work tirelessly to combat violent crime and the results are showing.

Bobby McNeil, 46, Milwaukee, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for s*x trafficking and arson yesterday in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

McNeil was convicted at trial of five felony counts: S*x Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion; Arson in Furtherance of a Federal Felony; Arson of a Building/Rental Property; Interstate Transportation for the Purpose of Prostitution; and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

According to court records, between 2021 and 2022 McNeil used force, threats of force, fraud, and coercion to compel an adult female victim to engage in commercial s*x acts on the south side of Milwaukee. Also, McNeil committed a retaliatory act of arson by throwing a Molotov cocktail into the home of another adult who attempted to help the trafficking victim escape from McNeil.

The Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives investigated this case with assistance from FBI Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Police Department.

In 2025, our country saw significant decreases in violent crime, murder, robbery, and property crime. The FBI working alongside our partners relentlessly pursued violent criminals and sought justice for victims. These pursuits led to safer communities across the United States.
