This past weekend, Rum River Firefighters wrapped up a month of Fire Apparatus Operator classes with a skills day on Saturday!

FAO is so much more than "putting water on the fire"- it's a combination of emergency vehicle operations, operating the pump, hooking up to the hydrant or drop tank, and coordinating water for fire attack. The operator has a BIG job.

Did you know that Firefighters at the Rum River Fire District are trained to drive, pump, and manage water supply? That is all in addition to our normal structural firefighting and EMT responsibilities!

When we say highly trained- we mean it 😎

A huge thank you to the Rum River Fire Dristrict training division and Hennepin Tech for making this happen 🚒😁 training is ESSENTIAL to being proficient!

Over the past three days, Rum River Fire District has been dispatched to two structure fires within our District that stemmed from the kitchen area of the structures.

‼️Did you know, kitchen and cooking fires are one of the most common types of residential fires? They can get out of hand very quickly!

Below are just a FEW tips for being safe while cooking and working in the kitchen. Stay tuned throughout this week for more cooking tips, tricks, and fire safety information. Stay safe, everyone!

Tonight, at approximately 1730 hours, Rum River Fire District was paged to a structure fire in the City of St. Francis.

Rum River crews arrived on scene and upon entry into the residence, they discovered a working fire on the top level of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and the home was checked to ensure no extension.

Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for coming to support us! And another big thank you to our law enforcement partners for arriving on scene and supporting fire operations!

What a busy day for the Rum River Fire District!

We responded to three emergency calls, held a Fire Apparatus Operator class, and participated in a parade! 🚒🚨

Training, community engagement, and emergency calls are always keeping us busy and sharp!

Due to the wildfires in the northern part of Minnesota, we are experiencing a significant amount of smoke in the air in our communities. Please do not call to report smoke in the area unless you see something unusual, like thick black smoke, or you see flames. Unfortunately, a smoky haze in the area will be our normal for right now.

We have had several calls regarding smoke outside, or the reports of what is thought to be a structure fire. These have all turned out to be smoke from the northern Minnesota fires.

We greatly appreciate and understand the concern with all of the smoke in the area, however, it is a priority to keep emergency lines open for emergent calls. Please help us and our dispatch partners!
