Please treat the next few days as Orange Alert Days and help conserve electricity between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

While temperatures are expected to be cooler, recent system conditions make it especially important to reduce energy use during the late-afternoon and evening peak period. Small changes can help support reliable power for our community.

Between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., please consider:

Delaying use of ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers
Setting thermostats a few degrees higher, when safe and comfortable
Limiting unnecessary lighting and electronics
Keeping exterior doors and windows closed as much as possible
Thank you for helping St. George maintain reliable, affordable power.

Congratulations to Gabe Huntsman, selected as a City of St. George City Manager All Star!

Gabe is extremely motivated, spends more time on a job than he needs to just to double check his own work, and never complains about anything. Gabe is just one of those workers everyone wishes they had on their team.

As an Energy Locator, Gabe works diligently to ensure utility lines are accurately marked and 811 locate orders are completed correctly—helping protect our community, contractors, and City infrastructure every day.

Thank you, Gabe, for your dedication, attention to detail, and outstanding service to the City of St. George!

The cause of the power outage last night throughout Washington County was due to a PacifiCorp regional transformer issue that had temporarily cut our main supply. To get the lights back on safely without overloading the grid, the St. George Energy Services team routed a smaller backup feed and restored power in careful, gradual steps.

We prioritized critical services, fired up our local backup plant, and successfully stabilized the system.

Today, our local grid is still recovering. We have issued a Red Alert and ask all residents to conserve energy today.

How you can help:

✅ Limit power use between 3 PM and 7 PM. This is our highest-risk window as solar generation drops off and evening household demand spikes.

✅ Delay heavy appliance use (like dishwashers and laundry) until after 7 PM.

✅ Adjust your thermostat a few degrees higher.

We are closely monitoring the grid and have emergency diesel generators ready to deploy if we approach critical limits. Your collective efforts to reduce usage keep our system stable.

If everyone conserves just a little, it makes a massive difference.

🔴⚡ RED DAY TODAY — PLEASE CONSERVE ENERGY BETWEEN 3:00–7:00 PM! ⚡🔴

Due to the recent power issues with PacifiCorp, we are asking everyone to please conserve energy as much as possible, especially between 3:00–7:00 PM, while they work to get things repaired and back to normal.

Every little bit helps! ❤️ During this time, if possible, please:

🏠 Turn off unnecessary lights
🌡️ Adjust your thermostat a few degrees
🧺 Delay washing, drying, and running the dishwasher
🔌 Turn off or unplug equipment you aren’t using

Reducing energy use during these peak hours will help lower the demand on the electrical system while repairs are being made.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and help! Together, we can help keep our community powered. 🔴⚡
