ππ Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Diamond Valley Elementary! π²π½πΈπ»π¬πΉ
Our 4th and 5th grade Dual Language Immersion students, with Maestra Nielsen, enjoyed learning about Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala through food, art, traditions, and special visits from parents and grandparents! β€οΈ
π²π½ Mexico: Students learned how to make piΓ±atas, enjoyed Mexican tamales, candy, and drinks, and dressed up for the celebration!
πΈπ» El Salvador: Students tried pupusas, learned about Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort, and created their own colorful artwork inspired by his style. π¨
π¬πΉ Guatemala: Students made Guatemalan flags and sampled snacks enjoyed by children in Guatemala. Maestra Nielsen especially loved sharing her own culture and giving students a taste of what children enjoy back home!
A huge thank-you to the parents and grandparents who visited and shared their cultures and traditions with our students. These hands-on experiences made learning even more meaningful and helped our Diamondbacks celebrate the beauty of different cultures! πβ€οΈ
