For 22 years, the Art Around the Corner Foundation has been turning our city streets into an open-air, museum-quality gallery! 🎨✨

This year's exhibit features 35 stunning new sculptures across Main Street, Historic Town Square and the new City Hall campus. From cast bronze to stained glass, these pieces do more than just beautify our city β€” they open minds, inspire dialogue and create beautiful synergy with our downtown businesses.

If you've been traveling around town recently, you’ve likely noticed construction on the George Washington Boulevard (1450 South) extension. Crews are working hard to push the road west from River Road to Crosby Way, with the bridge over the Virgin River being the first step.

This is a crucial project. Once completed in the summer of 2027, it will significantly improve regional connectivity between St. George and Washington, while easing current and future traffic delays at our busiest intersections.

The work has been proceeding at a great pace since we began in February. You can track the construction progress and get the latest updates at: sgcityutah.gov/gwbridge πŸš§πŸš—

In May, SGU had 43,184 passengers, shattering its record for the month of May set in 2025 (39,781). It's also the second best month of any we have experienced at SGU!

We love to see our airport hoppin! ✈️

Building a bridge is a lot like playing with Legos β€” but with skilled crews, heavy machinery, rebar and concrete!πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

Our team is hard at work on the George Washington Bridge Project, connecting GW Blvd to Crosby Way. We are currently building the individual components of the bridge and have some massive milestones coming up this month:

πŸ“… June 12: Pedestrian Box Culvert completion

πŸ“… June 17: Storm Drain Pipe installation

πŸ“… Third Week of June: Bridge Soffits (These form the bottom limits of the bridge deck to safely transfer weight down to the columns)

πŸ“… End of June: Concrete Girder installation

πŸ“… June 30: Bent Caps placed for all six rows of columns

πŸͺ¨ June & July: Placing over 10,000 cubic yards of large Rip Rap Rock!

This project will drastically improve regional East/West connectivity for St. George and Washington while reducing delays at key intersections. We are trending toward a Summer 2027 completion date! ✨

Incredible bravery by our SGPD, hustling to get everybody evacuated from the apartment fire while structures started to crumble around them.

After nearly 24 years with the City of St. George, Government Affairs Director Shawn Guzman is retiring.

Shawn has played an integral role in helping shape this city since he arrived in November 2002, having been appointed St. George City Attorney. There is no department he hasn't touched in his time here, having worked closely with the City Council, three City Managers, the airport, energy services, parks and community services and many more!

His institutional knowledge, humor and concern will be missed!

Join us June 26, 2026 as we celebrate his career and wish him well in retirement! Refreshments will be available while supplies last.
