🕊️ Dove Season Starts Tomorrow!

A quick heads-up to our community: Dove hunting season begins tomorrow, September 1. If you live in or near a more rural area where hunting is permitted, you may hear gunshots throughout the day, particularly during the early morning and evening hours.

Please don’t be alarmed simply by the sound of gunfire. Hunters are reminded to know and follow all applicable hunting and firearm laws, be aware of their surroundings, and always have a safe backdrop before taking a shot.

As always, if you see suspicious or unsafe activity or believe someone is shooting in an area where it is not permitted contact law enforcement.

🕊️ Have a safe and responsible dove season!

Tomorrow is a new week, and we want everyone starting it safely.

That text, notification or phone call can wait. When you’re behind the wheel, your attention belongs on the road. A few seconds of distraction is all it takes for everything to change.

🚗 Put the phone down.
👀 Keep your eyes up.
💺 Buckle up.
🏫 Watch for school buses, pedestrians and students.
❤️ Get where you’re going safely.

One choice can change everything. Make it the right one.

🌧️ RAIN POSSIBLE FRIDAY — SLOW DOWN & DRIVE SAFE

There’s a chance of rain in our area tomorrow. If you encounter wet roadways, remember that even a little rain can make pavement slick and increase stopping distance.

🚗 Slow down and drive for conditions.
↔️ Increase your following distance.
💡 Turn on your headlights for better visibility.
🚫 Avoid using cruise control on wet roads.
📵 Stay focused and avoid distractions.

Give yourself a little extra time, a little extra space and help everyone get where they’re going safely.

📍 A SIMPLE SAFETY TIP THAT COULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

In an emergency, being able to quickly send your exact location to someone you trust can save valuable time.

On your iPhone, press and hold the Maps app icon, then select “Send My Location.” It’s that simple.

⭐ Another tip: Keep your emergency contacts in your Favorites so you can find them quickly when every second counts.

Take a few seconds today to familiarize yourself with this feature and show your family members how to use it too.

Be prepared. Be safe. 📱📍

🚦 KNOW WHERE TO STOP

That thick white line at an intersection is called a stop bar, and it’s there for a reason.

When stopping at a red light or stop sign, drivers should stop BEFORE the stop bar, not on top of it and not beyond it.

Stopping past the line can:
• Block pedestrian crosswalks
• Put your vehicle too close to moving traffic
• Interfere with turning vehicles
• Create unnecessary safety hazards at the intersection

A few extra feet can make a big difference.

See the line. Stop behind it. Drive safely.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cleburne Police Department following an officer-involved shooting Monday evening in Burleson.

According to preliminary information, the incident began when officers responded to a report of an armed individual and a vehicle pursuit followed. The pursuit eventually ended near the Sam’s Club in Burleson, where the suspect reportedly entered the store while armed.

During the incident, a Cleburne police officer was shot in the leg. Fellow officers quickly applied a tourniquet, and the officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The officer was reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect was also shot during the incident and was pronounced deceased.

We ask our community to keep the injured officer, the officer’s family and the entire Cleburne Police Department in your thoughts and prayers as the officer recovers.

SUNDAY RESET 🚔📚🚌

Sunday is a good time to reset, recharge and get ready for another busy work and school week.

As families prepare for Monday morning, the Saint Hedwig Marshal’s Office reminds everyone that getting back into the weekly routine also means getting back into school-zone safety mode.

🚸 Slow down and obey reduced speeds in school zones.
🚌 Watch for school buses and stop when required for flashing red lights and an extended stop arm.
🟡 Flashing yellow bus lights mean slow down and prepare to stop.
👀 Stay alert for children and pedestrians near schools, bus stops and crosswalks.
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
🚗 Leave a little earlier so you’re not rushing through morning traffic.
🔒 And before you pull away, make sure everyone is buckled up.

A few extra minutes and a little extra attention can make all the difference.

Reset. Recharge. Drive safe. Let’s have a great week, Saint Hedwig! 💙
