Operating out of one central fire station, St. Hedwig Fire Department ESD 12 covers about 55 square miles of eastern Bexar County which includes the city of St. Hedwig and the surrounding unincorporated Bexar County. The primary duty of the St. Hedwig Fire Department is to develop, foster and promote methods of protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Emergency Service District 12 from

fires, both natural and man-made hazards, and other significant events through the direct coordination and action with other public safety, private, and business communities. Hedwig Fire Department staff takes pride in the execution of this responsibility with the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency, integrity and accountability.

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July from Bexar County ESD No. 12 Fire Rescue! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate 250 years of American Independence and the freedoms we are fortunate to enjoy. As you gather with family and friends for cookouts, parades, and fireworks, we ask everyone to make firework safety a top priority.

🎆 Celebrate responsibly:

Keep fireworks away from dry grass, brush, and structures.

Always have a water hose or bucket of water nearby.

Never allow young children to handle fireworks.
Light only one firework at a time and move away quickly.

Never relight a firework that doesn't ignite.
Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before throwing them away.

Leave pets indoors in a safe, quiet place during fireworks.

Let's make this Independence Day memorable for the right reasons by protecting our families, neighbors, and community.

🚨 Bexar County ESD 12 is actively monitoring the area for ongoing flooding conditions. Several roads are currently closed due to high water.

Please continue to monitor local weather conditions as additional rainfall is expected throughout the day. With more rain, water levels can rise quickly, and flooded roadways will become even more difficult to see during the evening hours.

You may receive a text message on your phone, see alerts on local TV or radio, or hear sirens. This is only a test to ensure systems are ready for real emergencies.

If you hear or see an alert on April 2 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., no action is needed. It is just a drill.

In the event of a disaster or emergency, please monitor local news outlets and social media for updates.
