Volunteers wanted tomorrow, June 6, at McCormick Park!

The next Friends of McCormick Park volunteer work party takes place this Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon!

This Saturday's work party will focus on preparing for an upcoming donation of native shrubs and ground cover in partnership with the Xerces Society (https://www.xerces.org/) this fall. Come assist with trimming grass, mulching, watering spring plantings, clearing blackberries and periwinkle, and prepping sites for fall plantings.

No prior experience is necessary. Youth ages 15+ may participate without an adult present. Younger kids must be accompanied by an adult.

Meeting Location: Trailhead near BMX track. Follow the signs! McCormick Park, 475 S. 18th Street, St. Helens.

Accessibility: The worksite isn't far from either parking area and plenty of free parking is available. The work area ranges from flat and grassy to muddy and sloped.

Provided: Small selection of tools.

Please Bring: Your own water, sun/rain gear, gloves, empty jugs for watering plants, and tools (shovel, trowel, pruning shears) as supplies are limited.

Schedule:
9 a.m. - Check in
9:15 a.m. - Introductions & project orientation
9:30 a.m. - Work begins! Removal, weeding, mulching, and watering around new plantings
12 p.m. - End of event

St. Helens Independence Day tailgating tickets are now live!

Ticket sales go toward supporting this free community event on Saturday, July 4 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the St. Helens waterfront.

Tailgate spots offer prime access along the Columbia River waterfront—perfect for relaxing with family and friends while enjoying live music, vendors, and a spectacular fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Spots are first-come, first-served and must be reserved. Only one reservation per vehicle is required. No overnight parking is allowed.

The filing period is now open for St. Helens City Council seats that will appear on the ballot for the 2026 General Election on November 3, 2026.

The following positions will appear on the ballot:

• St. Helens Mayor (2-year term expiring December 31, 2028)
• St. Helens City Councilor – Two positions (4-year terms expiring December 31, 2030)

To qualify as a candidate for Mayor or City Council, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be registered to vote in Oregon
• Have resided within the city limits of St. Helens during the 12 months immediately preceding the election

The wait is over- 13 Nights on the River starts tonight! The event will open at 4 p.m., and River Divide will kick off the season starting at 5 p.m.! The St. Helens High School Jazz Band will also perform from 6-6:30 p.m. on the Wauna Credit Union stage.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT: Pittsburg Road Closure and Detour Tuesday, June 9

WHAT: Columbia County Road crews will be replacing a failing, undersized culvert on Pittsburg Road between Highway 30 and Commons Drive. This project will replace the undersized culvert with a larger one and install a French drain to address drainage in the area.

WHEN: The culvert replacement work will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Paving and road restoration will be done on June 22-23. Pittsburg Road will be closed within the project area during these times, and a detour will be in place.

DETOUR: On Tuesday, June 9, Pittsburg Road will be closed for the culvert replacement work. Traffic will be detoured from Pittsburg Road to Sunset Boulevard, Columbia Boulevard, then to Highway 30. The road will be open to residents with homes inside the project area during construction work (local access only).

WHO: Columbia County Roads Maintenance/Public Works is performing the work. Pittsburg Road is under the jurisdiction of Columbia County and not the City of St. Helens. Questions about the project should be sent to Columbia County (https://www.columbiacountyor.gov/departments/PublicWorks)

The wait is almost over! 13 Nights on the River starts tomorrow with River Divide! Come down, grab a spot on the dance floor, and help us launch an unforgettable 2026 season.

Join us at 13 Nights on the River in Columbia View Park every Thursday from June 4 through August 27 for free summer concerts. The event opens at 4 p.m. with vendors and food, and music starts at 5 p.m.
