Over Memorial Day weekend, Scott Lee and K9 Jett Traveled to Geneva, Ohio to participate in a four-day IWBE K9 training seminar focused on advanced search and recovery skills. The seminar provided rare, highly specialized training opportunities that closely replicate real-world search environments.

Throughout the weekend, Scott and Jett worked through multiple scenario-based exercises designed to strengthen their ability to assist in complex missing-person investigations. These scenarios included outdoor search problems, water-related search environments, and other situations that require precision, teamwork, and disciplined K9 Training.

Training of this caliber is difficult to access and plays a critical role in maintaining operational readiness for search and rescue missions. As a volunteer, all expenses were paid for by the handler.

Huge THANK YOU to Columbia County Parks! 🙌🌲

We are incredibly grateful to the parks department for allowing us to use Camp Wilkerson this weekend for our annual Search & Rescue training. This beautiful space gave our team the opportunity to sharpen skills, train with our K9 partners, and continue preparing to serve our community when it matters most.

From long training days to teamwork (and a few muddy paws 🐾), we couldn’t do what we do without support like this.

Thank you for helping us stay mission-ready! ❤️

…and all the things that help us show up when it matters most

So come say hi, drop your bottles, maybe pet Cooper 🐶… and if you feel inspired, give a tree a hug too. (No judgment here.)

The Columbia County Search and Rescue K9 trailing team headed to Ennis Texas last week to participate in a 3 day seminar hosted by the International Bloodhound Training Institute and Texsar. The team, Becky Irving and her K9 Cooper and Mackenzie Deragon and her K9 Spyro traveled over 2000 miles to learn new skills and train with other K9 teams from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada. They got to experience some pretty amazing instruction and a variety of environments. We can’t wait for them to share with us all that they learned.
