Introducing Play and Learn Group with St. Helens Recreation. This class is for parents/caregivers and their kids and is offered on Thursdays at 10 a.m. beginning September 17, 2026.

If you are a parent or caregiver of a child ages birth to 5 years old, join us for this free, weekly, 90-minute program to learn about child development, early reading strategies, and positive discipline. While you play with your children, you’ll get great ideas of things you can do to prepare them for success. The curriculum for the Play and Learn Group is aligned with Kaleidoscope curriculum.

St. Helens Recreation Play and Learn is working with several community partners to continue to strengthen the relationships between children, their families, and caregivers. This series is free thanks to our partnership with the Northwest Parenting HUB.

Registration is required for this program and is for the full six-week session.

This is a family-friendly program designed for youth and their adults to enjoy together. Drop in, get creative, and have some fun!

Please note: This is not a drop-off program. Youth under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.

Sign up for our next Safe Sitter class scheduled for Thursday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Helens Community Center.

This class is for youth ages 11-15 to learn childcare techniques, basic first aid, CPR rescue skills, babysitting as business, and online and cellphone safety. Participants will receive The Official Safe Sitter Babysitter's Handbook. There are no prerequisite materials. You do not receive your CPR certification for this class; however, you will learn basic first aid.

Cost*: $70 in St. Helens and $78 out of district
*This program is non-refundable

We will take a half-hour lunch during the class. Please have students bring lunch, water, and snacks.

This class is located at the Community Center at 2625 Gable Rd., St. Helens.
