During the 26 August General Membership Meeting Chris DeHart from the Veterans Memorial Reef Organization addressed the membership addressing the 3-day ceremony when interring cremated remains to the bottom of the ocean. The Post also made a donation to VMR to support this important program that lies veterans to rest with a very dignified ceremony. In addition, a new way to search for memorial brick at the SJ Veterans Memorial Monument, using a QR code, was rolled out to the membership. Next meeting is 23 September at the St. James Wright Event Center at 7 p.m. All Veterans of all eras are invited to attend!

At the July 22nd General Membership meeting  Post 543 member Aaron Largent was awarded a plaque as Post 543 Legionaire of the Year  recognizing his outstanding work as the FY 2006 Adjutant as well as his work as a liaison officer with the local JROTC program and Civil Air Patrol squadron. Commander Carton  and Resource Officer Steve Muir then presented Cliff Pender and his team at Solstice Builders with a plaque thanking them for the outstanding support of recently deceased World War II and Korean war veteran John Fryar for the renovation of his home, performed at no cost, before his recent passing! BZ Solstice Builders!! 👍👍
