⚠️ Public Information Notice ⚠️

Around 11:50PM last night, many residents may have heard or seen a loud explosion and flash in the area of Williams Street and Gould Street.

The incident was determined to be a transformer explosion at the electrical substation located at that intersection. Saint Jo Fire Department crews responded to the scene, assessed the area, and ensured all immediate hazards were addressed. The appropriate power company was notified and responded to handle repairs and further investigation. We appreciate everyone’s patience and remind citizens to always avoid downed power lines or electrical equipment and report any concerns to authorities.

EMS for Children Day

Today, during National EMS Week, we recognize EMS for Children Day, highlighting the special care and dedication it takes to treat our youngest patients. When emergencies happen involving children, every second matters. Our Saint Jo Fire/EMS personnel train to respond to pediatric emergencies with compassion, skill, and care to help keep our community’s children safe. From scraped knees to serious emergencies, we are proud to serve the families of Saint Jo and surrounding areas. We also encourage parents and caregivers to take a moment to review emergency plans, update medical information, and talk with children about safety.

Safety Day

Today, during National EMS Week, we recognize Safety Day, a reminder that safety is at the core of everything our EMS providers do. Whether responding to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, fires, or critical calls, our volunteer EMS personnel put safety first to protect not only themselves, but also the patients and community they serve.

🚑 EMS Week 2026 – Education Day 🚑

Today, on Education Day, we recognize the importance of training, learning, and continuing education in Emergency Medical Services. At Saint Jo Fire/EMS, our volunteer EMTs and first responders dedicate countless hours to training to ensure they are prepared to answer the call when our community needs them most. From medical emergencies to trauma care, continuing education helps us provide the best possible service to the citizens of Saint Jo and the surrounding area. For 35 years, Saint Jo Fire/EMS has proudly operated an all-volunteer ambulance service, and that commitment to education remains a key part of serving our community.

Thank you to all EMS professionals and volunteers who never stop learning to better care for others.
