Residents of Saint Jo and across the county may be noticing increased smoke,haze,or a smoky smell in the area today.
The smoke being experienced is associated with the in Palo Pinto and Jack county.

Residents who are sensitive to smoke or have breathing difficulties are encouraged to limit any outdoor exposure.

The City of Saint Jo Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as information becomes available.

11:30 (update) A brush truck and a Tender has been requested by every department in the county to the scene. Starkey road is closed at this time.

Saint Jo Fire Department is assisting Nocona Rural Fire Department on a grass fire on Starkey Road near the Starkey Cemetery. Please avoid the area!!

⚠️ PLANNED POWER OUTAGES | AUGUST 17–21 ⚡

Saint Jo Emergency Management is sharing the following information from Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) regarding planned power outages in the Nocona/Saint Jo area next week.

TNMP contractor Linetec will be performing transmission line upgrades between Nocona and Saint Jo. Customers near State Highway 59 and Starkey/Thompson Road may experience planned outages during the morning hours on multiple days, August 17–21.

Crews will be installing new concrete poles and replacing overhead power lines as part of improvements to system reliability.

Please plan accordingly, especially if you rely on electrically powered medical equipment or other essential devices.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.
