Today we want to recognize and thank Tanner Mawhirter for his years of dedication as our student library aide. From his freshman year through his senior year at St. John High School, Tanner has been a huge part of our library team.

He has spent countless hours cleaning and re-shelving books, learning the library system inside and out, training new aides, helping students find books, and running the front desk with a friendly smile. His hard work, reliability, and positive attitude have meant so much to us over the years.

Tanner has now graduated from St. John High School and will be attending Fort Hays State University to pursue his interests in media and filming. We are excited to see where this next chapter takes him.

We will truly miss his help — especially all the re-stocking of books! Thank you, Tanner, for everything you’ve done for our library and community. We wish you much success and happiness in college and beyond!

Summer has officially arrived in Wichita, which makes it the perfect time for a trip to the Sedgwick County Zoo.

This is also the final year to experience the Stingray exhibit, so don’t miss your chance to see these incredible animals up close.

Admission to view the stingrays is free with zoo entry, and for just a few dollars you can even feed them. It’s a hands-on experience kids (and adults) won’t forget before the exhibit swims away for good (this is the final year of the exhibit).

Or just visit the zoo because it is awesome, the weather is nice, and you need to get the kids out of the house.
