Apache County Youth Council Our Council is a collaboration of different entities to provide services to children and families in Apache County communities.

Youth Council would like to thank everyone that volunteered their time for the Summer Kick Off at Lyman Lake. It was a huge success. We doubled our participants from last year. Again a big thank you from Youth Council.

The Summer Kickoff at Lyman Lake was a huge success. There were over 200 high school students who showed up for the event. There was a BBQ, games, chalk explosion, Bryce Foote spoke on his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction and how he overcame them, we had a dance and ended with a raffle from companies from Apache and Navajo Counties. We had $2000 in items donated. A special thank you to all who donated. I would like to personally thank all the volunteers who made this event possible. Without you this event would not have been possible.

Having Trouble Coping?

After a traumatic event, problems come and go. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the following problems, please ask for help:
Eating or sleeping too much or too little
Pulling away from people and things
Having low or no energy
Feeling numb or like nothing matters
Having unexplained aches and pains
Feeling helpless or hopeless
Smoking, drinking, using drugs more than you should
Feeling unusually confused or forgetful; on edge, angry or upset or worried and scared
Yelling or fighting with family and friends
Having thoughts and memories you can't get out of your head
Thinking of hurting or killing yourself or someone else

Some signs of a suicidal person: Looks sad, Sleeplessness, feels hopeless, withdraws, starts giving things away, looks tired, does not eat, feels worthless, refuses treatment.
These are just some signs that suicidal persons can have.

Although these signs by themselves do not necessarily mean a person is suicidal, they can create "red" flags.

Apache County Youth Council meets every 3rd Wednesday of each month alternating between St Johns and Round Valley. The Council consists of different agencies and programs which helps provide a collaborative effort in protecting our children and families.
