Clinton Conservation District To provide information and technical assistance to private landowners, local units of government, ed With time, that scope has broadened.

We serve the residents and property owners of Clinton County, Michigan. The Clinton Conservation District is a local unit of government established in 1954 to carry out programs for conservation– the wise use of natural resources for current and future generations. The guiding philosophy is that decisions on conservation issues should be made at the local level, by local people, with technical assistance provided by government. The District partners with the US Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) and other agencies and organizations. Historically, the District focused on soil erosion on farms. Today, the District provides technical assistance, information, and education to assist people in the District to properly manage their natural resources. Agricultural producers remain the primary focus, but services are also provided to owners of smaller rural properties, suburban and urban properties, as well as local governments. Current Programs include:
- Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP)
- Upper Maple River Watershed Implementation Grant
- Hunter Access Program

A new invasive was recently spotted on the Looking Glass River at Babcocks Landing a few weeks ago. Here is how you can help!
We need our residents to act as extra eyes on the water. You can protect our community by taking three simple steps:
Clean, Drain, Dry: Always remove mud, plants, and water from your boats, trailers, and fishing gear before leaving a boat launch.
Never Dump: Never empty aquarium water or backyard pond plants into local storm drains, ditches, or rivers.
Report Sightings: If you think you see European frog-bit, take a clear photo. Note your exact location and report it using the free Midwest Invasive Species Information Network (MISIN) mobile app, or visit www.misin.msu.edu and notify your local Mid-Michigan CISMA coordinator, Stephanie Day at [email protected] or 517-303-6599.
