We’ve received a lot of questions regarding what happens if the November 3rd bond proposal does not pass. While there isn’t one definitive answer, many discussions and decisions would need to take place among the Board of Education and district administration to determine a course of action given the district’s needs and finances moving into the future. As you’ll read below, these needs and associated costs don’t just go away–in fact, they will only grow.

With Friday’s post about the technology investments in the November 3rd bond proposal, we have finished our building-by-building and area-by-area posts. We hope they provided you information on just how much this bond will do for our district. The graphic below is a great summary of what our district’s needs are and what areas this bond will address to benefit our students, staff, and community.

Technology is essential to communication, safety, and district operations. The November 3rd bond proposal focuses on replacing technology in the district before systems become obsolete or unsupported. With passage of the bond, the district can plan for replacement cycles and maintain the technology and infrastructure students and staff depend on every day.

Athletics and activities facilities serve students throughout the school day, during practices and competitions, and through community use. Many of these spaces were last improved through the 2010 bond or contain original infrastructure. These upgrades, including restroom facilities and accessible infrastructure, are long overdue and are addressed in the November 3rd bond proposal.

“This bond will help support our students throughout their entire childhood and strengthen the community we call home. As someone who grew up in St. Johns and chose to move back and raise my family here, I want to see this community THRIVE!”

The November 3rd bond proposal seeks to add critical spaces to the Little Wings Early Learning Center, including two additional classrooms and a dedicated gross motor space/small gym. Adding two classrooms will create space to help expand programming, providing age-appropriate spaces that support young children’s learning and development. The gross motor space/gym would provide a larger indoor space, creating an additional option for learning and play.
