Important Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) Testing information below. Clinton County will be participating in this upcoming test.

As part of Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, on March 18, 2026, Eaton, Calhoun, Clinton, and Ingham Counties and the City of Lansing will do a TEST of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system. This test will be sent to all cell phones in the four counties listed and the City of Lansing. The test will occur at 12:59 pm, ahead of the 1:00 pm Voluntary Statewide Tornado Drill.

π“π‘πž 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐒π₯π₯ 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨π₯π₯𝐨𝐰𝐬:
TEST TEST: This is a TEST of your phone's Wireless Emergency Alert. Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties and Lansing are part of this TEST for Michigan's Severe Weather Awareness Week. You may also hear the outdoor warning (tornado) sirens activate as part of the Drill. Please take the survey to share feedback: arcg.is/0HDyiK THIS IS ONLY A TEST!!

π–π‘πšπ 𝐒𝐬 𝐚 π–π’π«πžπ₯𝐞𝐬𝐬 π„π¦πžπ«π πžπ§πœπ² 𝐀π₯𝐞𝐫𝐭 (𝐖𝐄𝐀)?
Think of getting an Amber Alert or Tornado Warning from the National Weather Service sent straight to your cell phone. There is a distinct alert tone, the tone repeats multiple times in quick succession, and most phones vibrate intensely along with the sound.

And you don't need to tweak anything on your phone to get this! While we occasionally send test alerts that would require you to change a setting if you wanted to receive (and we don’t recommend since they really intend to test the backbone and not phones) this will go out using the same route a β€œreal” warning takes. But it will still be labeled a β€œTEST” to avoid any confusion.
