We are overwhelmed today by the support shown to us by our community!

Our millage renewal passed yesterday with 62% of the vote -- that is a 10-point jump from when our millage was first passed in 2016! The millage also passed in 8 of our 9 municipalities.

Thank you to the hard working volunteers on the Yes committee and our Friends group, and to everyone who put out a yard sign, or posted on social media, or spoke with their friends and family, or passed along kind words of support to our staff. It is an honor serving this community, and we cannot wait to see what the next 10 years will bring!

6th-12th graders, this is your last chance to join this summer’s quest! You have 3 days left to help bring together the humans and dinosaurs!

A mysterious force needs your help to bring the two groups together. You’ll need to solve a variety of puzzles in order to succeed on the Quest.
Take part in the challenge at https://milibraryquest.wixsite.com/quest1, and enter to win a prize from your library.
Entries are due by the end of the day Friday, July 31.

On Tuesday, August 4, the Briggs Library's millage renewal will be on the ballot. The ask is for 0.75 mills, the same amount that was approved by voters 10 years ago.

This is an operational millage that accounts for approximately 80% of the library's annual budget, and covers the day to day expenses of the library: the purchase of collection items; programs; utilities; staff wages, etc. There is a page on the library's website that has information about the millage, the exact ballot language, and a millage calculator. The library had the privilege of hosting two student volunteers during the last school year: Benjamin from the RESA Work-Based Learning Program, and Hunter from the high school Work-Based Learning Program.

Not only were these two gentlemen wonderful volunteers, but both are fantastic artists and shared their talents with us, by creating decorations that tie in with our Summer Reading theme. Thank you, Benjamin and Hunter!

The library’s 2026-2027 budget and audits for the past five years are available on the library’s website. Please keep in mind that audits are a snapshot in time as of June 30th of each year. The audit of the library’s just completed fiscal year will not be available until sometime in November and will be posted on the website at that time.

It is has taken me awhile to get this up and I am sure this reading rock star has already reached 1,000 books! Josie was celebrating her 900 books read milestone in late June in this picture and we at the library are so proud of her!

Josie and her older brothers have been visiting our library for several years now and we have loved to see them grow-up and continue their joy of reading! Please help me in congratulating Josie and her accomplishments! 🥳

Here's a quick look at what's been happening at the library:

During the past year, our friends and neighbors have come to the library over 46,000 times, checking out 77,000 items while they were here!

Library card holders checked out over 23,000 digital items on Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy!

We had over 10,000 visitors to our programs for kids, teens, adults, or seniors! This includes programs held at the library and at our community outreach locations.

Library patrons logged nearly 700 sessions on the Mango language learning program!

Lastly, individuals and community groups and organizations used the library's free meeting spaces over 700 times!

Whether you are counted in these numbers or not, we are thankful for your support and for allowing us to serve this community!
