Under the influence or not, no still means no. A hand pushing someone away means no. A slurred no means no. A head shake side-to-side is a no. A long pause and scared eyes and voice is a no.

Alcohol or drugs does not mean a person consents to sexual advances.

Shock and anger can be immediate reactions to a minor, our children or young people coming to us as trusted adults when something terrible has happened to them. It is important to instead make sure they know they’re safe and heard.

AI is becoming a normal concept being adapted by many organizations, political parties and individuals. However not all AI information is true, accurate and legal.

As the new school year begins, make sure you and your students are understanding of the many ways AI can be used in harmful ways that can impact one’s life.

Apache County Distributes $40,000 To Cover Payroll for Puerco Valley Fire District Employees.

The Attorney’s office remains committed to legally providing a necessity for all Apache county residents and visitors. The next hearing will be on Aug. 27.

Grooming can happen anytime, anywhere and with anyone. Our children not only face the harmful reality in real life, but online as well. Many cases the office receives stem from a beginning stage of grooming which can lead to sexual assault, harassment, domestic violence and violence in general. Please, look for the signs and talk to your children about grooming and what it is.

Along with providing victim services to our county communities, it is crucial we also help recognize the root of many of our cases. Social media is every where and is extremely accessible. Our children are at the forefront of dangers online, in person, within our own communities and homes.

So for the young adults, children and even our own adults in the community, this is your reminder, you can say ‘no.’

Today we celebrate sovereignty, the right to live free and as a Nation, ensure justice for all. Today let’s remember those core values as we look back at the history. The history that predated the U.S and along the way. Please celebrate safely 🤍
