The men and women of the Sheriff's Office were very excited to be able to donate $1400 to support the amazing athletics of Special Olympics through the sale of our Autism Awareness coins

Enormous gratitude to everyone who purchased coins to help with this project - amazing people from coast to coast, as well as, Canada and Mexico purchased coins

A special thanks to Investigator Scott Vanover and Corporal Zack for all their hard work on this project, managing orders, and coordinating shipping

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office presented a $1,400 check to Special Olympics from the sale of the Sheriff's Office Autism coins on Friday morning.

Scam Alert:
The BCSO wants to warn our citizens that scammers are trying to take advantage of our citizens with false warrants. They are attempting to scam citizens stating that they missed jury duty and have to pay fines or risk arrest. Members of the Sheriff's Office will never disclose a warrant over the phone or demand money from our citizens.

We want to remind everyone that members of the Sheriff's Office and law enforcement (even federal) DO NOT call our citizens and ask them for money over the phone for warrants, missed jury duty, or citations. If you are asked to come to the Law Enforcement Center by a phone caller, make sure that you speak with someone in person and not call a provided number to issue any form of payment.

The Sheriff’s Office is extremely excited to announce the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff’s App is complete and fully operational for both Apple and Android platforms.

The App will make it easier for our citizens to access information and services at the Sheriff’s Office.

The App is free to download, and to make it easy and help with locating the App we have included a QR code to take you directly to the App

Some great features of the App are:

1. Instant and timely notifications

2. Inmate search and look up

3. Education and safety information on topics such as, drugs, cyber safety, avoiding scams

4. Methods of reporting crime incidents directly to law enforcement, which can also be done anonymously

5. Methods to connect with key law enforcement personnel and to find information about their children's SRO

6. Severe weather alerts

We will be updating the App soon to include a scheduler which will allow our citizens to schedule appointments like; CCW Renewal, Inmate Visitation, and S*x Offender Registry

Well it’s back to school time and our SROs are ready for their first day of school

With students returning please be aware and cautious of all of the increased traffic on the roadways and school bus activity

When the lights are flashing on a school bus vehicles both ways must stop and cannot pass a school bus

Let’s make this an amazing year for all of our kids!!!

On Saturday we had a Members Appreciation Day for all the members of the Sheriff's Office, their families, and our retirees.

One of the highlights was the very spirited/competitive kickball tournament - 4 teams, Cool Kids - Drug Strike Force and Career Criminal Unit, Missing In Cation - Corrections/Court House Division, Bunt Force Trauma - Patrol Division, and Criminal Investigations

The First Annual Kickball Champions are the Cool Kids

The Sheriff's Office would like to thank all of our amazing donors - many area businesses donated items for the silent auction and raffles - THANK YOU!!! All of the proceeds raised will be going to our Adopt-A-Family program this Christmas.

We were also able to make a large donation of food to the Noyes Home.

We would like to thank the many members of the Sheriff's Office that worked so hard to put this event on - however a special thanks goes out to Heather Annigian, Dawn Dussestschleger, Julia Fangman, and Velda King-Mays for all of the planning, coordinating, and everything they did to make this event possible.

Although we had many members who were able to attend the event - we had some members who worked so the Sheriff's Office maintained a full staff in all operations. Additionally, due to a critical incidents overnight Friday several members were called out to work (many attended by were someone tired) - and during the event our criminal investigators were called away to assist in working a crime scene in a neighboring jurisdiction.

It is truly an honor and privilege to work alongside so many excellent and dedicated people!!!
